Lake Lyndon B. Johnson (Lake LBJ) is a premier 6,500-acre constant-level reservoir in the Texas Hill Country. Located just 45 miles northwest of Austin and 90 miles north of San Antonio, it's a highly developed aquatic playground known for reliable watersports, upscale waterfront living and vibrant lakeside communities.

Lake LBJ is one of the better lakes in Central Texas. It's also one of the largest retirement communities in Texas and is a constant-level lake. It mainly fishes shallow, so even the kids can catch the big ones here, and the bite is usually good year-round. It has milfoil that holds good fish, and sometimes you'll run across hydrilla, which is excellent cover for bass. 3-5 lb fish are common and there's usually a good chance at a 6-10 lb fish in the mix. We target largemouth, and it also holds lots of Guadalupe bass and, on rare occasion, a smallmouth. If you like flipping docks, it's probably the best lake for that, and a lot of the time that's where you'll find the biggest bass — they also spawn around the docks in springtime. A frog bite can be really good on this lake, and jigs and flukes are among the best baits to use here.
