Inks Lake is one of our Highland Lakes destinations, and we run it as a true all-inclusive package: you get here, and we handle lodging, meals, guiding, boats and gear. All you do is fish.

Located in the heart of the Texas Hill Country just an hour northwest of Austin, Inks Lake is a scenic 831-acre constant-level reservoir. Famous for its vibrant pink granite outcrops, striking sunsets and year-round water recreation, it's an ideal destination for camping, hiking and watersports.

Inks Lake is not a big lake at all — tiny compared to most lakes that produce giant bass — but it can be one of the best in Central Texas, especially in springtime around the spawn and early summer when the topwater and frog bite really turns on. I've been fishing this lake for over 50 years since I was a kid and have seen a lot of big fish come out of it. Because it's small you can pretty much fish it however you'd like — flipping docks, flipping hardwoods, working rock piles and ledges, and throwing frogs and flukes around cover. We target largemouth, and a shaky head thrown around the rock piles can also produce some nice Guadalupe bass. There are big catfish and the occasional striper in the lake too. If you like to fish from the bank, there are lots of spots around the shore in the State Park that produce.
