Lake Austin is one of our Highland Lakes destinations, and we run it as a true all-inclusive package: you get here, and we handle lodging, meals, guiding, boats and gear. All you do is fish.
Lake Austin is a 21-mile, constant-level reservoir on the Colorado River. Situated just minutes from downtown Austin, it blends a scenic Hill Country retreat with a buzzing recreation and luxury real-estate hub, and it's highly prized by boaters, wakeboarders and anglers alike.
Lake Austin is a hidden gem in Central Texas. Some of the largest bass in the area have been caught out of Lake Austin, including the very biggest — a very nice specimen over 16 pounds. If you're looking for that lifetime record bass, there's a good chance this is where you'll catch it. Right now it has lots of grass, mostly hydrilla but also coontail, milfoil and even eelgrass. Just how the old saying goes: 'find the grass, you'll find the bass.' During springtime we also come across some nice white bass and catfish, so there's plenty of other gamefish in the lake too.
Trophy potential minutes from Austin
There's a lot of recreational traffic in the hotter months, so an early half-day is recommended during those times. In the summer months I also offer night trips so you can have a nice, quiet, relaxing time going after those big bass — all rolled into the same all-inclusive package, right outside the city with no long drive and no border crossing.
